The Atherton Theater Department concluded their final performance of Little Women and The Importance of Being Earnest on the 17th of November. After many months of rehearsals and 5 performances, all involved have created a show to remember.
Little Women tells the story of four sisters undergoing the ups and downs that come with growing up while living through the American Civil War. Atherton’s one act version of the play featured Grace Csabai as Jo March, Sofia Sandquist as Meg March, Brooklyn Hayden as Amy March, and Emma Yung as Beth March.
The Importance of Being Earnest is a comedy about two young men in England who create a shared alter-ego that they use to get out of (and into) sticky situations. Atherton’s one act version of the play featured Silas Haendiges as John Worthing and Noah Kelly as Algernon Moncrieff.
The shows were almost entirely put together by students, excluding Ms. Steege who directed the shows. Students were in charge of every aspect of tech. Atherton senior Zaxton Rothberg was the Technical Director for both of the shows.
“I think the shows went fantastically. Everything was very smooth and mistakes were minimal and easily corrected and covered,” Rothberg says.
Continuing with the fall plays’ themes of growing up, the Atherton Theater Department will be putting on their next show this spring: Peter and the Star-Catcher. Make sure to support all the actors and technical crew who will work hard on the upcoming show by grabbing a ticket in March!
