Señora Tackett is not only a familiar face in the world language hall, but she is also the epitome of school spirit. Joining Atherton in 2021, she quickly became well-regarded by students and staff for her peppy demeanor and friendliness. As of 2024, Tackett teaches both Advanced Spanish 1 and 2, as well as co-teaching IB SL Spanish 4 with Señora Suarez.
“I love having three classes because it keeps things fresh,” Tackett remarks. She appreciates the range across her classes. As she recalls growing with her students throughout the past four years, she is most fascinated by the students’ progress. “It’s pretty cool to see the range of levels, and how many of the kids I have in IB started in level 1,” she says.
In such a short time, Tackett has made an impact on students both in and out of the classroom. As well as teaching her Spanish classes, Tackett sponsors the Hispanic Student Union and the Spirit Club.
Her personal life consists of her passions for family, friends, and athletics. With her husband, Corey, she has two children named Roman and Lucía.
“Spending time with family is very important to me,” she emphasizes. Along with family values, Tackett makes sure to practice self-care through athletics. In October she is excited to participate in her first Chicago Marathon!
