The Girls Soccer 2024-25 season has recently come to an end. The Girls Varsity Soccer Team included Delaney Payton, Alexis Conley, Maya Derricks, Natalie Powell, Sashi Escobar, India Barker, Grace Goss, Melissa Randle, Lillian Yarmuth, Liliya Kourdeltchouk, Bianca Rosa, Georgia Gabhart, Erica Grantz, Veda Legaspi, Kayden Lewis, Nariah Murdock, and Rhodnei Rhodes.
Their overall season record was 11-10-1; this means they won eleven games, lost ten, and tied one. They won 8 games on their home field and 3 games away. This record makes their win percentage 52.3%. They scored 65 goals all season and got 65 goals scored against them.
“The win that caused the biggest upset was our North Bullitt game, which was also Senior Night.” said Maya Derricks, a freshman on the team. North Bullitt had a similar record to Atherton, with a record of 9-11. Atherton was able to pull out an impressive win against North Bullitt with a final score of 3-1.
“[The North Bullitt game] was probably the most memorable to me because it was my senior night. It was a great game and experience I had been excited about since being a freshman.” said Erica Grantz, a senior on the team.
Another challenging game for the Ravens was against Eastern High School.
“The game against Eastern was extremely challenging because we were playing a team that was about as equal as us in skill,” Grantz said. This game ended up in a 1-1 tie due to the Ravens’ perseverance on the field.
The 2024-2025 Atherton Girls Soccer team has a lot of new players due to the team losing a lot of seniors last year. Last year’s team had a record of 12-6-2. Since this year’s team has a lot of new talent and potential, they could match and even exceed this record in a few years.
“Our team’s biggest strength is communication and teamwork because of all of the friendships and personal connections we have made in just one season.” Derricks says.
