Mrs.Uhl
At Atherton each grade level has a counselor, and Mrs. Uhl is the freshman academy counselor.
“I’ve always worked in Atherton. I was a teacher here first, and then I moved into a counseling position. I taught English and Science before counseling,” says Mrs. Uhl. She has been with Atherton since the beginning of her teaching career in 2007.
Mrs. Uhl was drawn to the counseling position because during her high school career she needed guidance from someone who was not family, and now she helps give guidance to students here at Atherton.
“My career is focusing on what is best for students. What’s best for kids who are in a time of their life where you know this is like high school, such an important time of your life, like you are finishing childhood, and starting adulthood, and so the choices that you’re making now really impact what you’ll do next.”
Outside of school Mrs. Uhl enjoys spending time with her children. She spends most of her time cheering them on from the stands of whatever sporting event they are participating in.
