With the end of the school year comes summer and with summer comes a lot of free time. Farmington, a historical site near Atherton, will be holding a number of free events for people to participate in this summer. The events include an outdoor music series, gardening classes, cultural passes, and of course the always-provided tours.
“We are very excited to announce our new Summer Music Series in the Pavillion,” says Heather French, who works for Farmington.
The series will be free for all, with no registration required. It will be on the third Tuesday of every month May thru October featuring a variety of musical styles and Louisville legends from 6pm-8pm in the Pavilion behind the museum house.
“Bring a chair or blanket to sit on,” advises French.
Other events exploring the historical cultural heritage of Kentucky will be held throughout the year, including once again being a Cultural Pass designation and special Juneteenth programming.
Gardening classes are available for anybody, taught by Jefferson County Master Gardeners. Classes are held in the garden and include digging, so participants are asked to dress for the occasion and to bring their own tools if they have them. Most classes are 9:30-11am Saturday mornings. Registration is requested but not required at this time.
There are several ticketed events also, including the Hearth cooking and the Plein Air painting class series.
