Atherton’s choir is a talented group of students learning to hone their voices and become better singers. It is a lovely program that invites people of varying skill levels and provides a good opportunity for those who join.
Liliana Riley states that she had joined because of her previous middle school choir experience. She loves singing and uses choir as her outlet, creatively and emotionally.
Furthermore, she believes high school choir is vastly different from middle school, saying our choir is, “100 percent worth joining.”
Amber Sutherland states she was essentially roped into joining choir by a few of her friends, but has no regrets in doing so. Sutherland goes on to state that she has learned more voice control and lung capacity.
Riley believes a large part of what she gets out of choir comes from the director, Ms. Cumberledge.
“Ms. C puts in a lot of effort into sharing experiences and giving advice that will help us grow. She always encourages expanding your interests and using your life to become distinguished in your talents,” she says.
Riley believes anyone can benefit from choir, even if they aren’t confident in singing ability.
Choir also holds many fond memories for its members. Sutherland states that her favorite memories come from each concert. Riley shares that her favorite memory comes from singing Christmas carols at Norton’s Children’s Hospital. It was a very riveting and heartwarming experience for her and her fellow choir members.
Ultimately, Atherton’s choir is a great opportunity for any singer that wishes to join.
