It’s mid season for the girls field hockey team. In the past week the girls have won three games against Male, Francis Parker, and Holy Cross. The scores were 2-1, 5-0, and 5-0. The team includes Kennedi Beams, Lauren Brown, Rylee Carothers, Shelby Grizzle, Valentine Hora, Sadie Hyman, Kaelin Johnson, AnnaLee Minteer, Charlotte Neumann, Sophia Reno Weber, Paisley Rogers, Aya Thomas, Isabela Wilmes, Loni Feusner, and Natalie Wilson. The team is coached by Monica Holbrook.
Paisley Rogers (12) has been playing field hockey for 7 years and has been playing for four years at Atherton.
“So far this year the biggest win of the girls field hockey team was 9-0 against Eastern.” Rogers said. ”My job is to hang around the goal and keep the ball from getting in.”
Rogers describes her best field hockey memory is when the team took a trip to St. Louis to play three teams. “The trip went really well and we beat all three teams.”
Field Hockey’s senior night took place on September 23.
“Senior night was so fun. Our team did amazing and made us feel so loved,” said Kaelin Johnson (12). Johnson has been playing for eight years and is the goalkeeper for Atherton. Johnson describes the best quality of Atherton’s field hockey team is the friendship and love for one other. “We know how to have fun together on and off the field and we are all so close. We are definitely like a family,” said Johnson.
The Atherton field Hockey team’s next game will be on the 25th of September against Collegiate. The team will play at 5:30 at home.
