Seniors have been given the chance to continue the tradition of painting their parking spots this year. Many students have gotten started, or are looking forward to it.
However, due to construction, many students have not started on their spots. The debris that comes from the roof has a chance of getting in the paint, which would hinder their progress. This factor has made many seniors delay their painting, but, it didn’t stop all of them.
Cyrus Richardson (12) has already finished painting their parking spot.
“It has a background that’s blue with a David Bowie lightning bolt and then on top of that, I put Bingo from Bluey. And then I wrote ‘Episode 26, Senior year’.
”
For Richardson, there is a lot of significance to their spot; “I babysit a lot and work with a lot of kids, so that’s kinda the whole Bluey thing, is to tie into the kids I work with. I love David Bowie, and I love Bluey.”
Lennon Arnold (12) is currently in the process of painting her spot.
“I haven’t finished it yet, but it’s a record player of the band called The Backseat Lovers. Their album ‘When We Were Friends.’ It’s my favorite album ever, and they’re my favorite band ever.” said Arnold.
Arnold got into the band this past summer, and it has become very meaningful to her.
“This past summer was kind of a hard one and I feel like I wouldn’t be who I am now without that band, so, I painted a record player with my name and my year. At the top, I have the lyric ‘why go back to class if we’re already late?’ from the song ‘Davey Crockett.”
Edwin Sabic (12) talked about why he painted his spot.
“I felt that it was a very spirited thing to do since we were only just allowed to do it again this year.” Sabic said.
His spot relates heavily to him, and his background.
“I decided to paint mine the Bosnian flag, which is the country that I’m from. I really love it because I feel like it represents me more and it allows me to be more creative and in touch with the school spirit.”
Painting your parking spot is a great way to show yourself, and school spirit. So, if you’re a senior, have fun with this tradition!
