A typical Friday night for Atherton football looked a little different last week. The football team traveled to Iroquois high school on Thursday. Instead, the Junior class held a Powderpuff game between the upperclassmen. Girls in each grade were able to sign up to participate in the anticipating event. In honor of breast cancer awareness month, students and parents filled the stands with pink showing out for the ravens. The football players took place for the cheerleaders doing stunts and supporting the girls.

The juniors consisted of 19 players while seniors had 15 players. Nonetheless, each team showed out for their class. Georgia Gabhart (11) and Keegan Harper (11) were able to score a goal, giving a boost to the juniors. Before the end, it looked like the juniors were going to win. Within 3 seconds left of the game, Leyla Taylor (12) scored a touchdown resulting in a final score of 24-20.
Alba Kah (11) had an amazing time playing in the game and with her friends. Kah played center during the game.
“My favorite part was the team aspect and playing with all my friends. We worked really good together,” Kah said.

Emery Cox (11) played defense during the game. The sportsmanship of her team made her be her best.
“I liked how connected we were as a team. We all had fun, I mean it was competitive but we still had good sportsmanship,” Cox said.
India Barker (12) was one of the seniors that wanted to go all out. Barker wanted to be involved to have fun for her last year.
“I think just being a senior and wanting to be involved in many things. I want to do everything I can. I liked how the senior class celebrated after our win,” Barker said.

Ending in a close call, the seniors showed their undefeatable teamwork. To support the cause, half of the proceeds will be donated. With new ravens supporting Atherton, the excitement from the last powderpuff game never left.
