Mr Leitner is a beloved teacher here at Atherton. Mr. Leitner is located in Room 120. He currently teaches English and Advanced English for freshmen. Mr. Leitner also sponsors the Quick Recall club. The club gathers every once in a while to practice questions, memorize, and make fun memories. I had the chance to interview him about his hobbies and teaching.

What do you do in your free time?
“I spend time with my family, I have two kids. I like to bike, watch basketball, the NBA, and I like to cook.”

What made you want to teach English?
“My background is in theater and it’s related that way. I enjoy reading and writing. I like working with students and helping them find books they like to read and different texts. I enjoy helping students break down the steps to make their own writing pieces.”

Why is Atherton important to you?
“It’s in my neighborhood, since I live in the area. It’s very diverse and it supports students from all over the city and gives them a place to feel comfortable to express themselves. It’s unique in that way.”

Mr. Leitner is known to be a laid back teacher, being friendly to all. He offers many opportunities and a variety of amazing books for each student. From time to time, he might be out and about in the neighborhood around Atherton either biking or taking a stroll.
