In the morning rush many students rely on their school for meals, it’s essential that breakfast is easily accessible. Atherton has provided the Breakfast Cart for students to quickly grab a bite to eat. Recently though, the cart has been increasingly inconsistent in showing up. This becomes problematic when students unable to make it to the cafeteria no longer have an option to eat.
“Although I may not always look forward to the food served every morning, I always look forward to the option to get something to eat rather than show up to school in a bad mood,” says Evelyn Batista, who normally utilizes the cart. Batista explains the importance of having easy access to a meal at school to her, especially in the bustle of the morning, “I already try to add breakfast into my morning routine, but at my house it gets quite stressful every morning and I just never get the time to.”
Not only is the breakfast cart liked for the convenience of its location, but also convenience of packaging. While the cafeteria remains an option for breakfast, many students simply prefer the bagged items.
“I think in general, the little bags help people to make sure they’re throwing away all of their trash because it’s right next to them and they can just walk the whole bag over,” says Luca Spinolli. Spinolli also noted that oftentimes, he and his friends will keep the packaged breakfasts for later in the day, another benefit to the non-perishable and easily portable menu items, “I like to save the packages so if I don’t like the lunch that day, or for after school for a snack.”
The inconsistency of the Breakfast Cart at Atherton impacts students who depend on it for a convenient and stress-free start to their day. The importance of accessible, portable breakfast options like the bagged items cannot be overstated, as they offer flexibility and ease, proving essential for many students’ daily routines.
