Mr. Ellard has been working at Atherton for 18 years. He teaches AP World, AP Government, and WW2. He began teaching history because he has always liked true stories. Mr. Ellard also coaches Girls Soccer. Last year, he won an award for winning over 500 games over the course of his career.
Mr. Ellard has coached soccer since he was a junior in high school. When he first moved to Kentucky, he coached J.V. boys for a year. He coached at Farnsley Middle School for five years before interviewing for a Social Studies position at Atherton in 2007. Mr. Ellard soon began coaching for Girls soccer and realized pretty quickly that he loved it.
Many students at Atherton admire Mr. Ellard for his funny personality. There is even a fan page for him. Since the beginning of 2024, the fan page has been posting funny photos of Mr. Ellard. He gave his opinion on the popular fan page.
“A fan page! You call that a fan page? A fan page is where people applaud someone’s accomplishments. Those kids are making fun of their teacher. Although, I have to say some posts are really funny. Teachers send me screenshots of some of them because as you probably know, I don’t have social media.”
