Ms. New is in her 19th year of teaching. She teaches all levels of chemistry (honors, advanced, and IB). Her favorite part of her subject is the periodic table and how exact science is. Her favorite part of Atherton is the diversity and acceptance found among students and staff.
Ms. New spends her free time with her kids, cooking, biking, and completing crossword puzzles. If not teaching, Ms. New would have likely pursued a career in public health, such as water security. She has also considered working as a party planner.
Ms. New states that her students have taught her different cultures and customs as well as how to be more patient.
A common problem among other staff is not monitoring the paper in the copy machine. Ms. New recounts that a common problem among high school students is disengagement and overall apathy. She simply states,

Something Ms. New deems crucial for students and youth overall to internalize is that life is too short to care what other people think.
