The type of music I listen to has changed over the years, and what I listen to also depends on what’s going on in my life at the time. Currently, I’ve just turned 18, love to work out, and consider myself a pretty romantic person. My playlist can go from a sad rainy day to a full-on dance party.
Honey Bee- Blake Stapelton
“You be my honeysuckle, I’ll be your honey bee,”
It’s corny to say, but I love love. Honey Bee is a very calming song and gives me peace. It follows the rule that your partner will be the peanut butter to your jelly.
Detox- Jack Harlow
“Airplane mode for the evening,”
We all have times where we hate the human species and have to “detox”. This song can be really relatable in those times. It’s about taking a breather from the people and the world around you. The song gives me a sense of relaxation and calmness.
I’m a little crazy- Morgan Wallen
“I’m a little crazy, but the world’s insane,”
This song is part of Morgan Wallen’s newest album, “Im the Problem”. When this song came out, it immediately spoke to me. I have always felt like I am different than everyone else and never really fit in anywhere. Always being on guard and watching the world go crazy and burn at the same time, and that’s what this song is about.
Heaven- Kane Brown
“Cause, I don’t know how, I don’t know how heaven, heaven. Could be better than this,”
This song is very romantic. Oftentimes artists will go to writing retreats to gain knowledge and experience with different writers. The first time Kane Brown heard the song at a writer retreat, it was being written in a room downstairs. He immediately thought about his now wife as he views her as “an angel sent to this world” for him. When he gets to spend time and hang out with her, heaven seems like a beautiful place but the time with his partner seems even more of a happy place than Heaven.
Tomorrow- Annie 2014
“The sun will come out tomorrow. So ya gotta hang on till tomorrow,”
A classic song from the 2014 Annie soundtrack that always gets me up on a bad day. Nothing lasts forever, and the feeling of sorrow doesn’t either. This song reminds me that, yes, I had a bad day, but a new day is on the way.
I am always changing, and so is my music. It’s crazy how much just one song can change my whole mood, vibe, and perspective on the world around me. For that, I don’t know how I’d live without music.
