After an exciting season of fall sports with wins and losses, winter sports give student athletes an opportunity of success. Atherton’s winter sports include boys and girls basketball, swim, wrestling, and bowling.
Swim began first starting their season off in the beginning of November. The boy’s captain is Trey Leister (12), and the girl’s captains are Wesley Drake (12) and Lily Chaney (12). If qualified, the team will go to state using all their effort from events and practices.
Boys and girls basketball will start in the beginning of December and end in February. Having an impressive season last school year, both teams will continue to give it their all. The team plays in the 27th district like many other sports at Atherton. Students can also expect a spirit week and winter homecoming leading up the week of the game. The date is yet to be released.
Wrestling will have their first scrimmage at Central on 11/13. Wrestling often holds practices in the concourse after school, striving to be the best they can be.
Bowling often holds meets at bowling businesses around Louisville creating a fun environment for the team, parents, and viewers. The team will compete against other schools keeping score of strikes, spares, and fouls.
Winter holds an exciting season ahead for Atherton’s sports. During these cold months, student athletes will show determination for their success in high school, potentially for the future. Like always, Ravens will show the resilience that Atherton holds.
