Nicki Marzian is the positive action center (PAC) coordinator and teaches in the Freshman Academy with Mrs. Purlee. As the PAC coordinator, Mrs. Marzian offers support for students’ physical and mental needs.
“In this role, I help support students who are struggling with home life, academics, behavior, and peer/staff relations. Between Ms. Uhl, Mr. Jones, and I, we work to help them while they are in classes and sometimes outside of class for more individualized help. We also support them with mediations, goal setting, decision-making, and restorative practices. In doing this, we also work to support the teachers with challenging behaviors,” Mrs. Marzian said.
Mrs. Marzian also teaches part of freshman academy with Mrs. Purlee to help first year students acclimate to high school. Mrs. Marzian is motivated to work and teach at Atherton despite having to wake up early because she loves her job.
“Getting to know the students and watching them grow in so many ways is the most rewarding thing ever. I love the team of administrators and teachers we have at Atherton because everyone is here to help kids,” Mrs. Marzian said.
In her personal life, Mrs. Marzian recently started playing on an adult indoor soccer team and she also plays in a sand volleyball league along with Atherton security guard Coach Coley. Here at school, she can be found walking all over Atherton, but her office is located in the large gym. She has been supporting members of the Atherton and JCPS community since 2003.
