Michael Sick has been at Atherton for 2 years. Mr. Sick is a math teacher here at Atherton, teaching dual credit math to seniors. Mr. Sick is in the library 3rd, 6th, and 7th period or around school when he’s not teaching a class.
Mr. Sick graduated from Kent State University in Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Mathematics and a Masters in education. Mr. Sick’s strengths are helping students who come into class not feeling confident in math. Sick describes how if the student is just willing to put effort in, he will help them the best he can.
“My favorite part about being a teacher is feeling like I truly helped students,” Mr. Sick said.
This year Mr. Sick is teaching a new curriculum that will help students get more credit hours for college. This helps students get more credit hours and would help save students money and time in college.
“My goal for this year is to make sure to learn the new curriculum and get as many kids the college credit they need,” Mr. Sick said.
Outside of school, Mr. Sick enjoys running marathons, he has ran 10 so far. Mr. Sick also likes to play video games.
