Service to Service club Attend Cave Hill Cemetery

Members of the Service to Service club, including a few parents, and the club sponsor, Ms. Tammy went to Cave Hill cemetery to put flags on veterans head stones. Overall, the club put over 7,000 flags on the headstones of veterans.

Bianca Phoenix (12) went to Cave Hill Cemetery and has been in Service to Service club since freshman year.

“It was fun and it was a privilege to place flags on the headstones of people that fought and served our country,” Phoenix said.

Isha Shackelford (12) also attended Cave Hill Cemetery and has been in Service to Service since freshman year as well.

“Cave Hill went great. It was amazing to see people coming out to support veterans that passed, so they are included on Veterans day,” Shackelford said. “And we did this even though it was very cold and rainy, all to let these veterans know that someone thought of them.”

On Tuesday November 11th, the Service to Service club will be hosting a veterans day bakesale. The money raised from the bakesale will go to giving back to the community.

Ms. Tammy is a veteran of the U.S Army and also the sponsor for the Service to Service club.

“On Tuesday after school we will have veterans and recruiters helping with the bakesale. It would be a good opportunity for students to come say hello and say thank you for their service,” Ms. Tammy said.

Make sure to come after school Tuesday to the bake sale to support Veterans and Service to Service Club!

Ruby Raymond-Henle (12) is joining the 2025-2026 Aerial staff as a photographer. Henle is a part of the Media Arts Academy and is in the Video Production pathway. She is excited for photography and to practice writing. Henle hopes to learn more on editing photos and learning different photography angles. Outside of school, she enjoys playing the piano, reading, and making props for Atherton’s Theatre department after school. She also works at Ramsi’s cafe on Bardstown Rd. Ruby has a little brother and has a border collie, Hector. After she graduates, she plans to go to UOFL to do some type of Media and Minor in Piano.

Bianca Phoenix, Writer

Bianca Phoenix, 12, is a first-year staffer for The Aerial. She has attended Atherton for all 4 years, and has grown to love the Media program through her experiences in Yearbook and Atherton On Air. Bianca is very involved in school, whether she’s trying a new sport, or influencing people to join BSU and Y-Chapter, she loves to stay busy. When she’s not writing for The Aerial, she’s playing lacrosse, fencing, working out at the gym, or spending time with her cat. Her main goals for The Aerial are to write more on politics, sports, and just have fun! She plans to go to college for broadcasting. Then hopes to be a journalist in the Army and at News stations.
