Track Results 4/15

On Wednesday, April 15th, Atherton’s Track team competed in the JCPS High School Meet number 4. Athletes competed in various events, with many of them placing in the top 10, or above.

Nitayvis Short (11), placed 4th, and Corey Jackson (10), placed 6th for the 100 meter dash.

Noelle Hughes Seitz (9) and Aleia Norfleet (10) placed 6th and 7th for the girls 400 meter dash. For the boys, Ian Matthews (11) placed 11th for the 400 meter dash.

Ava Llaguno (11) and Ellie Murphy (9) placed 2nd and 4th for the girls 800 meter run. Ian Robertson (9) and Elliott Williams (11) placed 6th and 7th for the boys 800 meter run.

Elise France (11), Wesley Drake (12), and Maite Mendez Galavan (9) placed 2nd, 4th, and 5th in the girls 1600 meter run. Milo Westbrook (10) placed 4th, and Otis Schreck (11) placed 9th for the boys 1600 meter run.

Preston Goodwin (12), Griffin McLaren (9), and Forest McLaren (11) placed 1st, 3rd and 4th for the boys 3200 meter run.

Athertons Girls relay team placed 6th for the 4×200 meter relay, with a time of 1:50.84.

Ryan Cox (10) placed 4th for the triple jump, with a distance of 37 feet and 5 inches. For the high jump, Ian Matthews (11) placed 3rd,with a distance of 5 feet 8 inches. Jackson Groft (9) placed 6th, with a distance of 5 feet 4 inches.

Kelissa Jones (10) placed 4th for the girls 100 meter hurdles, with a time of 19.41 seconds.

Aiden Michael Tilton (11) placed 10th for the boys discus, with a distance of 79 feet and 2 inches.

The Track team competes in the Ballard Quad Meet at Ballard High School on Thursday, April 23rd at 4:30. Come Out and support your Ravens!

Callie Thornton (12) is an editor and writer. During her first year, Thornton first thought of participating in the Aerial as a way to fill a class period, but contrary to previous intentions, realized that she had fallen in love with journalism. In her second year on the Aerial, Thornton is excited to be deeply involved in journalism again. She has hopes for more perspectives to come through the newsite, expanding outside of school to see more impacts in the community. Thornton looks forward to the new team taking the Aerial to the next level. At Atherton, Thornton participates in archery and track. Passionate about movies, film, and photography, Thornton hopes to go to college to pursue a career in film. Thornton’s top three movies are The Iron Claw, The Way Way Back, and Mid90s. In her free time, she enjoys painting, scrapbooking, listening to music, and spending time with her cat named Tom.

Abbygail Milburn, Editor

Abbygail Milburn,(12) is excited to be working on the Aerial this school year! Milburn is a co-editor for the Aerial and is looking forward to photographing sports, writing articles, and revising stories. Milburn is the Editor-In-Chief for the yearbook and has completed the media arts graphic design pathway. Milburn also has a passion for sports photography with her favorite being softball and baseball because of all the angles you can achieve of the players sliding to base. Outside of school, Abby is president of service to service, likes to read, and enjoys sports photography. She also has 2 german shepherds, Hades and Zena. After high school, she plans to pursue journalism and get a minor in marketing.
