Senior prom took place on May 8th, at the Speed Art Museum. The theme for this event was Starry Night, and all of the seniors made sure to show up and show out. Students could take pictures in the photobooth, have fun on the dance floor, or just hang out with friends.
Every year at prom, students vote others for prom related senior superlatives. These include prom royalty, best dressed, best dressed on theme, best couple, best dance moves, and life of the party. In order, the winners of these superlatives were Aubrey Williams and Simon Boice, Leilani Carmichael, Cyrus Richardson, Callie Thornton and Lucas Selch, Addonis Thomas, and Wesley Buchanan.

Outfits are a big part of prom. From suits, to dresses, students show themselves through what they wear.
Ava Hug (12) knew what dress she wanted since junior year.
“I just really wanted a big black ballgown. It’s what I wanted last year for junior prom, but I didn’t go shopping early enough to find one,” said Hug.
She got her dress from an etsy shop called LindonFinds on Etsy.
“It was super awesome because he already had the outline of it, but I just got it made to my measurements in a different color,” Hug said.
Getting ready takes a lot of time, but is always worth it in the end.
“It took me two hours to get fully ready, and then I went around and took pictures with my family which was super cute and fun,” said Hug.
The photobooth was very popular with the students, she recalled how it just started with her and a friend, and ended with multiple of her other friends joining in.

Marcus Cox (12) knew what he wanted to wear as soon as he saw it.
“As soon as I got into Boutique Affairs I was like yeah, that’s the suit I’m gonna wear. But then, my mom told me that it looks like the suit my dad wore on his wedding day,” Cox said.
His favorite part of the night was the dances.
“The dancing was great, and the music was really good. Getting to see all my friends dressed up and everything was amazing,” said Cox.

Marie Billings (12) decided to go old school, and bought her dress at the vintage clothing store Nitty Gritty.
“I really love bell sleeves. I feel like it was very princess-like and elegant, and I really wanted to do something out of the ordinary. I liked how it was very form fitting, but flowy at the same time,” Billings said.
She enjoyed many moments from prom, but seeing her friends was the highlight.
“My favorite moment was just seeing all of my friends dressed up and having fun,” said Billings.
Thank you to our senior class officers for setting up prom, and making sure everyone had a good time!
