Every year at the end of the boys and girls lacrosse season, both teams battle for the top spot during an intense matchup. On Monday May 18th, this matchup took place. Unlike a traditional lacrosse game, the game was played entirely using girls lacrosse sticks and girls lacrosse rules, creating a unique challenge for both teams.
Because the game followed girls lacrosse regulations, all players used shallow-pocket girls sticks, which made catching, cradling, and controlling the ball more difficult for many of the boys players who are used to deeper-pocket sticks in boys lacrosse. The rules also limited physical contact, meaning body checks and heavy defensive hits were not allowed. However the boys adapted quickly.
In the end the boys came out on top and defeated the girls 7-3 leading to the boys 3 year winning streak. As the tradition continues to grow each year, the event once again brought students together in a friendly matchup.
