Atherton new landscapes are completely finished, according to maintenance employee Tom Smith. The only revisions needed are small finishing touches to the amphitheater and adding furniture to the patio.
The outside renovations consist of an amphitheater and a new patio courtyard for classes for additional classroom space for teachers and students to hang out in the good weather for lectures and other activities.
Smith also obliges that both areas are ADA compliant and no safety issues have needed to be adressed.
“Everything is ADA compliant. We shouldn’t have any safety issues. Those have all been addressed pre construction or during construction…so there shouldn’t be issues that anyone would run across. Everything should be 100% ready to go when it’s fully occupied,” Smith said.
Atherton’s maintenance workers have been working on these renovations for two years and are nearly at its completion stage. Though the use of the new exterior is exciting, accessibility in both of the new areas will depend on the activity and weather considering that both the patio and venue are near classrooms. Teachers will have to make sure to acknowledge before sending classes out to the new areas.
