After coaching Ravens Boys Basketball for 21 years, Tudor coached his last game with the team. There were many ups and downs of coaching, but Tudor loved every second.
“I can’t believe it’s been 21 years, it doesn’t feel like it,” Tudor said.
He started his coaching career at HighView Baptist while helping out a good friend who wanted to coach there at the time. After realizing how much he loved the world of coaching, Atherton had an opening for a freshman boys team coach, and he took the chance.
“I’ve played basketball my entire life as well, so I can see and understand where the players are coming from,” Tudor said.
Coaching a team is not a one-man job. Tudor has a village of help. When times were not going to plan, he had support behind him.
“I really had to rely on my peers and other coaches. Most coaches go through the same things, so you really have to rely on them and call them up,” Tudor said.
The good memories really stand out. When the team is traveling, those are some of his favorite times coaching and team bonding.
“When the team travels to Michigan, the team gets to bond and play basketball, not just to win but mainly just to enjoy the game,” Tudor said.
Tudor leaving will not be the end of the Atherton Ravens basketball team. He will still be coaching Advanced PE, as well as involved in the Atherton community.
