An Atherton Baseball player made history on Friday, April 3rd, when they threw the first no-hitter in the team’s history.
Jude Fulks (11) pitched for three innings against Seneca at home, throwing 8 strikeouts and allowing 0 hits from the opposing team.
“It’s my first ever in my lifetime,” said Fulks. “So that being my first in high school and in my life, it was pretty amazing for sure.”
“It didn’t sink in until my friend called me saying that was the first in Atherton’s history, so he ended up looking it up and ended up telling me,” said Fulks. “I was shocked. I didn’t believe it at first.”
After confirming the news, the first person Fulks told was his father, Sam Fulks, who is also Atherton baseball’s head coach.
“He’s been coaching me since I was little, since T-ball. And then I also told my grandpa because he’s the one who got me pitching in the first place,” said Fulks.
Fulks achievement is the result of a lifetime of hard work and dedication to baseball. He’s played the sport for over a decade at this point.
“I was around 4 years old at the Germantown Little League. I’ve grown up with the majority of the guys here [on Atherton’s team] playing travel ball,” said Fulks. “I started pitching when I was 12, so about 5 years now, and I just started really getting into pitching for the varsity level.”
Even though he already has an impressive accomplishment under his belt, Fulks is already focusing his attention on the future.
“Playing college-level baseball is really my next goal. Getting people to look at me, getting people to see how much I’ve improved over the years. I’ve been to some college camps, but getting them to look at me and see how much I’ve improved over the past few years is my next goal,” said Fulks.
Parker Meeks (10) has played with Fulks on Atherton’s baseball team for the last two years, and said that the record setting junior has been very supportive of him.

“He’s [the team’s] starter at my position on second base,” said Meeks. “He’s a great guy, very head in the game, all about baseball.”
The Ravens ended up beating the Redhawks in a landslide, with a final score 18-0. Fulks said he’s proud of the progress the team has made this season.
“Our attitudes and efforts are the main things that we’ve been working on this season, and I feel like since last year they’ve improved dramatically,” said Fulks.
Congratulations to Jude Fulks for this historic achievement! Come out and support the Ravens baseball team at their next home game against Trinity on Tuesday, April 21st at 5:00 pm.
