The first semester of Senior year in high school is stressful to say the least. Seniors are picking out colleges for their future, class events, and much more that leads Atherton Ravens to success post graduation. As many student athletes dream, three seniors were honored this past Wednesday by loved ones that made a commitment to their sport.
Atherton held a signing ceremony for class of 2026 at 3:30 in the large gym. Families, friends, coaches, and teammates took their day to congratulate the seniors. Athletic director Mr. Brutscher directed the crowd giving a speech to recognize the important event for the students and families. A table was set up seating three chairs for each senior with an Atherton backdrop behind. The sports that were showcased included swim, field hockey, and cross country.
Callie Whitham, (12) was honored first, having her coaches share how committed as an athlete she is. Giving a short speech, Whitham acknowledged her coaches and teammates inspiring her through her journey. Whitham will be attending the University of Charleston-West Virginia for cross country.
Up next was Rylee Carothers, (12). Carothers will be attending Centre College for Field Hockey. She thanked her coaches and teammates for the amazing 4 years she’s had.
Honoring the last senior was Lilian Borkowski, (12). Borkowski took her time to recall the sentimental memories of swim with her coach, teammates, and her family. Borkowski will be attending the University of Wyoming for swim and dive.
Each senior then signed a piece of paper, fully committing to their college and sport. Families, coaches, and friends took photos with each athlete to admire for their accomplishments during the time spent at Atherton. After the ceremony, cake was served, photos were taken, and laughs filled the gym. Congratulations to the seniors for their big achievement!
