As the school year heads into its final stretch, excitement is growing amongst the junior class as they prepare for one of the most anticipated nights of the year on April 17th. For many students, junior prom is not just a dance, but a milestone. They have to make it through the whole year while keeping up with their academics, attendance, and conduct, and prom is the night to celebrate that.
As we are still weeks in advance, juniors are already planning every detail, from outfits to dinner reservations to post-prom activities.
“I got my dress from a place in Indianapolis,” said Isla Sanderfer (11). “And before prom I am going to take pictures at a park.”
Dinner plans are coming to be a very important part of the evening. Many groups are making reservations at local restaurants or having a group dinner at someone’s house, turning prom into a full night instead of one dance.
“After the junior ring ceremony we are going to have brunch and for dinner we have reservations at Sarino, an Italian place in Germantown,” said Zaylie Barber (11).
Photographing the night is a key factor in many student’s plans. Taking pictures to look back on and to remember the fun everyone had is something most people are incorporating into their schedule.

“Our group is going to meet at Cherokee park to take pictures,” said Cielle Chappell (11). “We are picturing the gazebo area.”
Despite all the planning, what students seem most excited about is spending the night with their friends and dates.
“I am most looking forward to dancing with my friends,” said Rueben Lubarsky (11).
As junior prom approaches, one thing to remember is that it is not just an event, but an experience shaped by anticipation and the excitement of getting older.
The prom will take place at Woodhaven Country Club on April 17.
