As the 25-26 school year comes to an end, it’s time for seniors to pick their quotes for the yearbook. With millions of options to choose, the possibilities are endless. From celebrity quotes, movie lines, song lyrics, and even things said by family, students pick things that have meaning to them.
Edwin Sabic (12) is bringing his heritage into his quote.
“My senior quote is ‘i krv svoju za bosnu moju,’ and it essentially means my blood for Bosnia. I chose this quote because my Bosnian heritage is really important to me and I feel as if that Bosnian slogan is a good representation of who I am,” said Sabic.

However, many students, including Sabic, are upset and also surprised by the fact that it costs money to put a quote in the yearbook.
“I feel infuriated. I just paid for my cap and gown, and my yearbook, and now I have to pay for a quote,” Sabic said.
Nico Zitzer (12) is planning on doing something related to his favorite artist, Elliot Smith.

“I’ve listened to him since I was a kid, I have a tattoo for him, I just love him. I need to share his beauty with the world,” said Zitzer.
He wishes that senior quotes were advertised better, many students not knowing that it’s a thing.
“I understand why we have to pay, but I think it’s absurd that they didn’t market it at all last week and that it’s an extra $5 this week, even though it’s their fault they
didn’t advertise it,” said Zitzer.

Riley Bradburn (12) chose a quote from a show she’s interested in.
“My quote is ‘Will you come to my cottage this summer?’ spoken by Shane Hollander in the show Heated Rivalry. I love reading romance books, and in my family I was never scared to watch stuff that had same sex relationships. When I saw that Heated Rivalry was getting so popular, I was excited to share my interests,” said Bradburn.
However, she was nervous her quote wouldn’t be accepted due to the nature of the show.
“They have it so that if they deem it inappropriate they’ll take the money and you won’t get a quote, and I was scared I wouldn’t get a quote due to the context of the show it’s from,” Bradburn said.
Although faced with some struggles, Atherton’s students are getting creative with their senior quotes. From slogans, to music, to TV shows, there are many options to choose from. We can’t wait to see what you put!
